At the crossroads of digital development and philanthropy
The Community Wireless Trust works with local schools and communities to bring Fibre Broadband to the community via wireless connectivity. The profits from service subscriptions go back into the community to support School BYOD and Digital Development projects identified by your community.
A current trial project is underway in Waimate, Canterbury, with the generous support of InternetNZ. Community access to the fibre is provided by wireless backhaul from the Waimate Silos, allowing subscribers a direct point to point link to the high speed fibre.
Access to the fibre will allow students across the district, access to Project Based Learning Initiatives, such as Digital Stewardship, Business Administration, Management and anything else that aids in a communities digital development.
CWT is not just about digital connectivity, its about community, knowledge sharing and development of information resources that enable communities to thrive. CWT aims to help and encourage communities to create and maintain a sustainable environment in which they have chosen to live.
